Science Jubilee Adapter for the Digital Pipette

Hello, I am a summer high school student working for the acceleration consortium and as part of my summer project I designed an adapter that allows for the digital pipette to be attached to the Science Jubilee. While the Science Jubilee already has an adapter for a pipette, the pipette that they used is much larger than the digital pipette making it incompatible without a new, appropriately sized adapter.

My current design of the adapter is attached to the back of the digital pipette The adapter features four holes on the back for securing the tool plate and the flexure mechanism, and two additional holes for attaching the adapter to the pipette. Additionally, the sides of the adapter have holes for attaching tool wings, which allow the tool to rest on the pins of the parking post. This mechanism enables the adapter to slide into the parking post pins, providing a secure resting position for the tool.

Currently the adapter does fit on the pipette and can attach the flexure mechanism and tool wings but I am still inexperienced with using the Science Jubilee so there maybe be some details that I am not considering. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

Update:

I have finalized the design of the Science Jubilee adapter case, which successfully attaches the Digital Pipette to the Jubilee. Several significant changes have been made to the initial design. The most noticeable change is the addition of a large hole in the case to accommodate the Jubilee’s locking mechanism. Additionally, I lengthened the case to account for the low placement of this mechanism and moved the tool wings up to avoid interference with the tool plate. I’ve attached an image of the case along with a video link demonstrating the pipette being attached to the Jubilee.

This project was my first experience in 3D design and it has taught me valuable lessons such as the importance of measuring twice and cutting once. I have also learned that the final design of a case may not be the final design and can always be improved. This was a great experience and I am very thankful for this opportunity.
